ImageWe are very pleased to announce that the HMCZFC library catalog is now online.  Although we have been automated for some time, access to our collection is now conveniently available on our home page and on the library page.

The HMCZFC library was established in 1984 with a small nucleus of books donated by Philip Slomovitz, longtime editor of the Jewish News, and has grown to be the  major reference Holocaust and Judaica library in the area.  The library specializes in Holocaust, European Jewish history, Jewish-Christian relations and Judaica.  The collection includes a full array of materials:  books, archives, artifacts, audiovisuals, oral histories, periodicals, photographs, maps and much more.  It includes information on every conceivable aspect of our subject specialties.   Of special note is our Memorial Book Collection, Oral History Collection and genealogy resources.

The library catalog is using the Mandarin Oasis Library Automation System.  It is a system based on the internationally recognized MARC (Machine Readable Cataloging) standard.  The search engine is user friendly and results in exceptionally fast data retrieval.  All MARC fields are indexed and searchable.    This means that one may search by title, author, place, subject or any keyword in the book description.   An added feature is the availability of records in foreign language script.  It is Unicode compliant which allows cataloging in virtually every language.  This system is very powerful, yet easy to use.

The library is located on the second floor and is open to the public during museum hours. Reference librarians are available to assist library users.   For more information about our services, call the library at 1-248-553-2400 ext. 16 or 1-248-553-2834.  Our email address is This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it   You’ll be amazed at the wealth of documentation the Center has to offer.
