Transforming the Future of Holocaust Education
We are excited to announce that, starting at the end of May, The Zekelman Holocaust Center’s core exhibit will undergo a complete renovation. The renovated core exhibit will elevate Michigan survivor voices in the telling of one of the most horrific events in world history by utilizing:
- The latest historical research on and facts about the Holocaust
- Cutting-edge exhibit technology, design, lighting, and fabrication
- Interactive and carefully curated learning experiences
Our new guided tours will align with best practices in museum education and, following our goal of getting guests safely in and safely out of the museum, updated galleries will feature zones for reflection and inquiry.
“As the population of survivors dwindles, most future visitors to The HC will not be able to meet a Holocaust survivor face-to-face and hear them speak. Our job is to give people an opportunity to connect with these individuals and their stories throughout time.”
– Rabbi Eli Mayerfeld, CEO of The HC
The core exhibit will be available for tours and visits until May 25. During the exhibit renovation, The HC will remain open and feature a robust series of public programming, educational events, and a temporary exhibit.
In-Person Programs
We will continue to host a wide range of educational events and in-person programming for The HC community. To view our upcoming events, please visit www.holocaustcenter.org/events/upcoming-events.

Our curation and exhibits team has developed a unique temporary gallery that will cover the entire timeline of the Holocaust through Michigan survivor testimonies and artifacts and serve as a preview to the new core exhibit. Admission to this exhibit will be free.
During our exhibit renovation, The HC will continue to offer educational programming for adult groups including college and university groups, Security Sector partners, and corporate professionals. We will soon begin booking engagements for 2024 in our brand-new core exhibit.
